NRCPD Newsletter | May 2015

29 May 2015

Dear colleague

The annual CPD audit is now underway. We will soon contact Registrants whose portfolios have been audited. Once the audit is completed we will use what we have learned to improve the CPD handbook.

We still have a Registrant Board member vacancy. We are particularly looking for applications from professionals who are on the Registers of Interpreters for Deafblind People, Lipspeakers, Notetakers or Speech to Text Reporters.

If you have questions about anything in this newsletter, please don't hesitate to contact us. You can also follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page.

Kind regards

Kate Price

Registration Service Manager

Annual report 2013-14

The Annual Report 2013-14 has been published on our website. We apologise for the delay, which is due to changes being made to how we operate and report information.

Fees

Fees for 2015-16 will remain the same as last year. And remember, if you want to appear on more than one Register we will only charge you one fee if you submit the applications at the same time.

Registrant Board member vacancy

We are looking for a Registrant Board member to join the three RSLIs who took up their places on the Board last year. We are seeking applications from professionals who are on the Registers of Interpreters for Deafblind People, Lipspeakers, Notetakers or Speech to Text Reporters.

Notetaking course

We have approved a notetaking endorsement created by Signature. The course will allow level 2 notetakers to upgrade to level 3 and become eligible to register. Signature has applied for funding to run the course. If you want to register your interest please contact us.

CPD for Newly Qualified Registrants

We have had lots of newly qualified registrants asking if they have to meet the CPD requirement in their first registration year. You must meet the CPD requirement in your first registration year even if you are newly qualified.

CPD Audit

The CPD audit is currently underway. For those of you have submitted your evidence we will let you know the outcome soon. Once the audit is completed we will use what we have learned to improve the CPD handbook.

Practice Breaks Policy

The practice breaks policy was introduced last month and we have some queries from communications professionals who would like to register after a break. We will be issuing some additional guidance about the policy.
