NRCPD Newsletter | May 2016

02 June 2016

Dear colleague

Jonathan Farnhill, Chair of trustees of Signature has made an announcement about governance and leadership of Signature and NRCPD. The Signature Board has agreed to change the structure of the charity to enable a greater focus on the development of Signature as an awarding body and the transition of NRCPD to full independence as a regulator. As part of the process Signature and NRCPD will become separate companies and have their own dedicated leadership.

Annual Report

We have published the annual report for 2014-15. The report reviews our work for that year.

Review of the National Occupational Standards in Interpreting

Instructus Group is carrying out a review of the National Occupational Standards in Interpreting, which were last revised in 2006. In partnership with the Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters (SASLI) and the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI) we are helping Instructus design the review.

As soon as we have more information about the review, we'll let you know.

Professional Supervision for interpreters

Earlier this year seven registered sign language interpreters completed the 360Supervision Diploma in Supervision for Sign Language Interpreters and Allied Health Professionals. The qualified supervisors are now offering professional supervision to sign language interpreters.

The benefits of professional supervision include designated time to reflect on professional practice, recognition of strengths and areas for development and increased confidence in skills and competence.

For further information about professional supervision or to find a supervisor see www.360supervision.co.uk.
