NRCPD Seeks Three Lay Board Members

NRCPD is seeking two Lay Board members and a Lay Chair.

There are currently three lay member vacancies as Sandra Verkuyten OBE, Jenny White and Michael Guthrie retired from the Board following the July 2016 meeting.

There will be an open recruitment process and the deadline for applications is 12 pm on Monday 22 August 2016.

CPD

Registrants can now carry over structured CPD points to their next registration year. Previously only unstructured points could be carried over. The number of points that can be carried over remains a maximum of 5.

NHS Accessible Information Standard

NHS England has published a press release to mark the implementation of this standard. By 31 July 2016 all organisations that provide NHS or publically funded adult social care must have implemented and fully conform to the Accessible Information Standard, which states that where support from a communication professional is required, the organisation should ensure that communication professionals working with D/deaf and deafblind people are registered with NRCPD.

Upcoming Meetings

We are meeting with Heriot Watt University on 22 August to discuss their qualifications that are a route to obtaining registration as a sign language interpreter or trainee sign language interpreter. The first cohort from the courses has graduated this summer and is now eligible to apply for RSLI or TSLI.

The practitioners' forum will next meet on 15 September in York. We will be asking the forum members for agenda items shortly.
