NRCPD is seeking three members of the register to join the Board of Trustees

NRCPD is embarking on a period of important and positive organisational change and development as we transition towards becoming a fully independent voluntary regulator. Our registers are growing year on year and we now have more than 1,400 registrants.

This is a unique opportunity for new trustees to join us at this exciting time, to help us on our journey to full independence and deliver our strategic plan.

Our purpose is to promote the best possible communication between D/deaf, deafblind people and hearing people. We set high professional standards and register practitioners who meet these standards.

We promote the value of registration to practitioners, service users and public, private and not for profit organisations. Our vision is for every communication professional working with D/deaf and deafblind people to be required by law to register with us.

What we are looking for

Our trustees are required to have strategic vision, independent judgement, the desire to challenge the status quo and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Applications from people who are D/deaf or have hearing loss are encouraged.

We are looking for three individuals with a variety of skills but particularly business development and management, financial management, marketing and IT.

Role description and person specification

The successful candidates for these positions will be registrants. They will demonstrate in their application and CV that they meet the person specification.

The role

1. You will be registered with NRCPD.

2. You will act as an ambassador for NRCPD, inspiring confidence in registration and representing its interests.

3. You will contribute to the continual improvement of registration services by commenting on standards, policies and procedures.

4. You will be involved in constructive collaboration, networking and consultation on behalf of NRCPD with key stakeholders and others as required.

5. You will contribute to NRCPD strategy for achieving its stated objectives.

The person specification

1. You will enjoy the challenge of strategic thinking to make a real difference.

2. You will bring your personal qualities of integrity, independence, an interest in equality and access, enthusiasm, energy and firm resolve.

3. Once you take up the position on the board, you will quickly acquire and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the environments in which these professionals operate.

4. Your contribution will strengthen the profile and status of NRCPD and the services offered by registered professionals, particularly amongst users, agencies and the general public.

What we need from you

You will need to attend four board meetings and one strategy day each year. Meetings are held in central London. Time commitment is six to eight days per year.

The term is four years. Trustees are eligible for re-election for one additional term.

This is a voluntary role however all reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
