I've been Director in NRCPD for only a short time but the quality of our registrants and the immense impact they have on people's lives is evident on a daily basis. I've seen registrants in action both for NRCPD and in other settings such as the NHS and its clear to me that the business of regulating the sector, and setting and upholding safe and professional standards is crucial for public protection. Compromising on those standards puts people at risk.
Independence remains a key priority for NRCPD to maintain credibility and the trust of our registrants and all the communities we serve. We are now closing in on the practical detail of separating fully from Signature and the Board will consider a costed plan that will begin implementation in the autumn. I will keep you up to date with progress regularly through the newsletter. At the same time we will invest in the quality of register services too: mapping and remapping courses, refining CPD requirements, register structures and the other strands of development set out in the operational plan approved in May. And you want to know how we spend the money we raise from fees too - so our first full year audited accounts (for 2017) will shortly be published on the website and you will be able to follow the ongoing financial picture in the approved minutes of Board meetings which are also published.
But we also want to hear more from you. We want to hear the many stories of how you've helped clients, your experience of our service and your reflections on the standards we apply and the protection of the public. So we will be conducting a survey later in the year from which we hope to learn your views and feed that into our work on developing register services and benefits for registrants. We will also be developing a program of roadshows for 2019 which will take us round the country so we can update you on the progress we're making and for you to ask us questions.
It's a privilege for me to be working for such a significant and engaged group of professionals and with a Board that is just as engaged in doing the very best for registrants and the people they support. NRCPD is in good health and with your involvement will continuing to strengthen and be a voice for good in protecting the public and upholding the standards you work so hard for.
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed two Registrant Trustees. James Fitzgerald and Sarah Haynes were appointed in June following an open recruitment process. They will serve a four year term.
We are pleased to let you know that we have reviewed our registration fees. The Board has decided that there will be no fee increase across all registration categories for 2019.
We are seeking an Honorary Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. Please get in touch for further information.
We are having an information day for people who would like to find out more about becoming a trustee. It will take place in central London on Wednesday 29 August from 10am. If you are interested in coming along please get in touch.
The Board met on 10 July in London. The agenda and minutes from the Board meeting in February have now been published on the website.
