11 December 2019
Welcome to NRCPD's December 2019 Newsletter! We have some updates for you before the year comes to a close.
We began looking for a Registration Support Officer to join our team at the end of November and we will be recruiting permanently into this role in the New Year. Applications are also still open for two new lay trustees to join the Board, but will now close towards the end of January.
This was mentioned in our previous newsletter, but we wanted to give you a gentle reminder that our registration fees will change on 1 January 2020. The revised fee rates will apply to all applications received on or after that date. However, current fee rates will apply to any application (first registrations, renewals and upgrades) received on or before 31 December 2019. Administration and badge replacement charges will not change. For further detail, please see: www.nrcpd.org.uk/news.php?article=189
As a result of a change in accounting partners, NRCPD will no longer be able to accept phone payments for registrations and renewals. Direct bank transfer (BACS payment) is preferred because this avoids card transaction charges. We understand that many of our Registrants wish to pay by card, but we ask that you avoid American Express or other non-UK/EU bank cards, because these incur a charge more than twice that of UK cards. Whichever means that you choose to pay, please also remember to include your invoice number as part of the payment reference.
We have also begun reviewing the NRCPD Complaints Process. We have initially invited professional associations and NUBSLI to be involved, but other organisations will also be approached to help us with this in 2020. We hope to conclude this review next Autumn and we will update you on the results then.

Throughout 2020, we will be sending out tailored surveys across to our different stakeholders, including a re-issuing of the survey sent out to NRCPD Registrants in November 2019. We will let you know the full details of the new Registrant survey nearer the time, which will also outline how the results will be shared and how the data will be used.
For all surveys, we will be consulting with market research professionals in order to ensure consistency, deliverability and tangible results so that we can improve what we do for everybody involved. We will always include options for free text answers because we value the detail in them and relish the chance to read and analyse the feedback we get this way.
NRCPD are currently planning a 2020 Programme of Outreach Events. This will involve joint events, exhibitions and workshops with our key stakeholders throughout the year. We will publish the details of how you can attend these on our website and social media.
Some organisations that we are working with include National Deaf Children's Society, Wolverhampton University, CityLit, DeafBlind UK, Cambridgeshire Deaf Association and The Royal Association for Deaf People. We are thrilled to be working collaboratively with these organisations (and others!). Stay tuned for further details! These will be released in the New Year.
The NRCPD office will be closed from 4:00pm on Monday 23rd December 2019 for Christmas. We will re-open at 9:00am on Thursday 2nd January 2020. We would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Thank you to everyone for your support throughout 2019.
