Dear Registrants and Regulated Trainees,
We wanted to update you on the improvements to the CPD policy and let you know that the new CPD policy will be in effect from Sunday 1st November 2020. This update to the policy means that you will have more flexibility with your CPD, as well as seeing adjustments to CPD points, and certain CPD activities moving from Unstructured to Structured. For further detail about the CPD policy changes, please see: www.nrcpd.org.uk/news.php?article=204
The new CPD handbook explains how the policy will be implemented from November 2020 - please see page 25:
www.nrcpd.org.uk/documents/professional_standards/The-finished-NRCPD-CPD-handbook.pdf?#zoom=50. Any new or renewed registration period starting on or after 1 November 2020, will automatically come under the new policy at that point. If you have not renewed under the new policy yet and don't want to wait to take advantage of the additional flexibility it offers, you may 'opt-in' voluntarily. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to do this. The old policy will still apply to you until you renew or you opt-in whichever is sooner.
You will also see changes to the portal and improvements to the way you record your CPD activities on your online CPD record. For further information and instructions with recording and uploading your CPD activities on the portal, please read the guide on page 35 of the handbook.
If you require a print-friendly version of the CPD handbook, please see: www.nrcpd.org.uk/documents/professional_standards/The-finished-NRCPD-CPD-handbook-print-friendly.pdf?#zoom=50
Ending the CPD Credit COVID-19 Measure:
Back in May this year, as part of our measures to support renewals in response to the impacts of COVID-19, we introduced a credit for all registrants of 1 Structured CPD point per month to your CPD records. As the sector has adapted to new ways of working and more CPD is available online, we are looking to bring this measure to an end.
We believe that the end of the calendar year is the most appropriate time to do this. Therefore, the last such credit will be for the month of December 2020. The other registration support measures we introduced (60 day payment terms, 6 month renewal option and special arrangements for those struggling financially) will continue until at least 31st March 2021. We expect to bring those to a close before the summer, but will keep that under review, and announce a decision in due course.
If you have any questions about the updates to the CPD policy or your CPD credits, please get in touch with us via email at: enquiries@nrcpd.org.uk or via VRS at: www.nrcpd.org.uk/vrs
With thanks,
NRCPD.
