National Police Language Services Interpreter of the Year Awards

06 January 2023

Leicestershire Police, who oversee the UK's language service provision, are currently accepting nominations for the National Police Language Services Awards which celebrate the work undertaken by police interpreters. Excellence, determination and dedication to language services will be highlighted through three distinct awards:

  • The Simon Cole Award for Excellence
  • Spoken Language Interpreter of the Year
  • Non-Spoken Language Interpreter of the Year

The Simon Cole Award is for an interpreter or translator who has demonstrated considerable expertise, dedication, determination and support to policing over a protracted period of time and may well include activity outside of the 2022 period. Language Service Professionals, language service providers such as agencies, and members of a police service may submit their nominations for all three awards. All nomination forms completed should be sent via email to: pait@leics.police.uk

If you would like to nominate a NRCPD registered British Sign Language Interpreter (including Relay-Intralingual) or Translator who works in police settings for an award, please see the documents attached to this update. Nominations must be received before 5:00pm on Friday 3rd February 2023 to be considered for the awards.
