NRCPD are recruiting three registrant trustees

NRCPD are looking for three new registrant trustees to join the Board.

Our purpose is to promote the unlimited inclusion of d/Deaf and deafblind people through effective and excellent communication services.

NRCPD promotes the value of regulation to the professions, service users, Governments and public, private and not for profit organisations. We set high professional standards for language support professionals and maintain registers of those who meet these standards.

Our registers are growing every year and we now have more than 1,600 registrants.

NRCPD is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion.

We are more effective and learn better together when our Board is reflective of the communities that we work in.

What we are looking for

Our trustees are required to have strategic vision, independent judgement, the desire to challenge where needed, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

We are looking for three registrant Trustees (i.e. people who are on our registers as translators, interpreters, etc.) who have a variety of skills and experience. You need to be able to demonstrate the contribution you could make to the management and development of NRCPD.

Our trustees are required to have strategic vision, independent judgement, the desire to challenge the status quo and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Role description and person specification

The successful candidates for these positions will share our values and passion and be able to commit to the formal events such as board meetings, as well as further the interests of NRCPD in wider ways.

You will demonstrate in your application and CV that you meet the requirements of the role and the person specification.

Applicants can be submitted in writing or via video in BSL.

The role

1. You will act as an ambassador for NRCPD, inspiring confidence in registration and representing its interests.

2. You will contribute to the continual improvement of registration services by commenting on standards, policies and procedures.

3. You will be involved in constructive collaboration, networking and consultation on behalf of NRCPD with key stakeholders and others as required.

4. You will contribute to NRCPD strategy for achieving its stated objectives.

The person specification

1. You will enjoy the challenge of strategic thinking to make a real difference.

2. You will be able to make the time necessary to read and prepare Board papers before meetings.

3. You will bring your personal qualities of integrity, independence, an interest in equality and access, enthusiasm, energy and firm resolve.

4. Once you take up the position on the board, you will quickly acquire and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the environments in which our professionals operate.

5. Your contribution will strengthen the profile and status of NRCPD, and the services offered by registered professionals, particularly amongst users, agencies and the general public.

What we need from you

You will need to attend four board meetings; one in London, one in Durham and the rest remotely and one strategy day each year. Meetings are held in BSL and English with LSP provision at all meetings.

As well as the four days of meetings you can expect to spend another two to four days a year on additional NRCPD work between meetings, including taking part in email discussions.

The term is four years. Trustees are eligible for re-election for one additional term.

Renumeration

This is a voluntary role however all reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
