NRCPD is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our team as Chair of the Board of Trustees. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead an organisation that is at the forefront of promoting and maintaining high standards in communication and language services.
NRCPD became independent 6 years ago; the chair and board have worked hard to set up the infrastructure for independence. The current chair's term is coming to an end and is leaving NRCPD in a strong position for a new chair to take on the next exciting phase of strengthening the profession and regulation.
As Chair, you will play a crucial role in leading and guiding the organisation towards its mission of promoting and maintaining high standards in communication and language services for Deaf and Deafblind people. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees and CEO to oversee the strategic direction of NRCPD and ensure that it is fulfilling its responsibilities to its stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and management, a strong understanding of the communication and language sector and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of d/Deaf and Deafblind people.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and inspire and motive a team of dedicated professionals.
You will have strong professional affiliations and be able to make immediate, strategic connections to enhance and further the purposes of NRCPD.
NRCPD is committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion.
We are more effective and learn better together when our Board is reflective of the communities that we work in.
Therefore, in recruiting for our Board, we welcome the unique contributions that you can bring in terms of education, culture, ethnicity, race, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation and belief.
The role requires, on average, 21 hours per month, but these hours are flexible and can be arranged in accordance with other commitments.
You will need to attend four board meetings; one in London, one in Durham and the rest remotely and one strategy day each year.
Meetings are held in BSL and English with LSP provision at all meetings.
As well as the four days of meetings you can expect to spend another two to four days a year on additional NRCPD work between meetings, including taking part in email discussions.
The term is four years. Trustees are eligible for re-election for one additional term.
This is a voluntary role however all reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
This recruitment will remain open until we have enough suitable applicants.
