At their March 2013 meeting the NRCPD Board discussed a draft of a code of practice to replace the current Code of Conduct for Communication Professionals. Also on the agenda was the Francis Report into the failings of health providers in mid-Staffordshire and the impact that report will have on regulatory requirements for those working in health settings, as many NRCPD Registered professionals do. The board decided to delay slightly the implementation of a new code of practice to make sure it takes fully into account the developing requirements for voluntary registers in the UK.
The board is considering how to respond to the changing regulatory environment and will announce its plans after the meeting at the end of June. We are grateful to everyone who has assisted in the development of the draft code of practice so far and look forward to completing that work in the near future.
