Following the open meetings to talk about our plans for statutory regulation we have updated the frequently asked questions.

If you weren't able to attend one of the meetings, there will still be lots of opportunities for you to tell us what you think. The Board will consider a timetable of action at its July meeting, after which we will publish it for consultation. Your comments and suggestions will be appreciated.


Advice on RBSLI membership

NRCPD has written to agencies advising them of the decision by the Ministry of Justice that the Self Regulatory Body for Sign Language Interpreters and Translators Ltd (RBSLI) does not meet the requirements to be included in its second generation contract for the provision of language services.

Immigration Bill no barrier to Deaf people

The Code of Practice to the Immigration Bill will make clear that people whose first or only language is a signed language are not barred from working in public facing roles.
