Nature of Complaint |
Complainant raised concerns about the skills of the Registrant at a medical appointment. Allegations include that the Registrant was not suitably skilled and provided poor interpretation throughout, they struggled with medical jargon and spelt medication incorrectly but did not seek clarification, they had a nervous disposition and appeared jittery which made the Complainant more anxious at the assignment. |
Summary |
Investigation conducted into potential breach of Section 3.1, 3.2,3.3, 4.1 and 6.1 of NRCPD's Code of Conduct. Statement from the doctor was obtained in the investigation. |
Outcome |
Case Examiners decided based on the evidence provided, that there was a realistic prospect of finding an impairment of fitness to practice, and that it was in the public interest to refer the case to a Complaints Committee The Complaints Committee found that the facts alleged were not proven on the balance of probabilities and therefore the facts did not support the charges. They did not find that the use of simultaneous interpretation is in itself a breach of the Code and stated that there was no evidence that the Registrant had not maintained or developed their practice, noting that the Registrant had provided evidence that they had undertaken CPD following the incident suggesting that they are aware of their responsibility to do so. No case to answer. |
