Nature of Complaint |
Complainant raised concerns around the Registrant's professional conduct in a therapeutic assignment. Allegations include that the Registrant breached confidentiality by signing in BSL about a previous separate unconnected assignment in front of the therapist without seeking the Complainant's consent. The Complainant consequently felt disrespected and anxious. |
Summary |
Investigation conducted into potential breach of Section 1.1 and 2.1 of NRCPD's Code of Conduct. |
Outcome |
Case Examiners decided based on the evidence provided, that there was not a realistic prospect of finding an impairment of fitness to practice, and that it was not in the public interest to refer the case to a Complaints Committee. The Case Examiners noted that while they appreciate it could be rightly seen that the Registrant should not have inquired in BSL as to whether the Complainant wished to mention a previous appointment, they believe that on the balance of probability, the sole purpose for doing so was to 'strive to do good.' The Case Examiners also stated that whilst they did not wish to undermine the Complainant's expressed feelings about the incident that took place, the Registrant's reflection and experience of the NRCPD complaints procedure is taken into consideration. |
