Nature of Complaint |
The Complainant raised concerns around the professional conduct of the Registrant during an assignment on a ward of a mental health hospital where professional boundaries had been crossed and a serious safeguarding matter had occurred. Allegations included sitting on a patient's knee, partaking in inappropriate conversation with the patient, and failing to report their actions and/or conduct to the designated safeguarding person. NRCPD deemed the misconduct to indicate that the Registrant's practice posed a significant and current risk to the public and imposed an interim practice restriction upon the Registrant pending the outcome of the investigation. |
Summary |
Investigation conducted into potential breach of Standards 1.1, 3.1, 3.2 and 6.1 of NRCPD's Code of Conduct. |
Outcome |
Evidence was sought and obtained from various sources. The Registrant fully co-operated with the investigation and undertook relevant work to improve their knowledge and practice. The case was fully reviewed by the Registrar, and a mutual agreement on sanction was made between NRCPD and the Registrant in accordance with paragraph 41 of the Professional Conduct Complaints Procedure. Breach of Standard 1.1. and 1.6 established. The Registrant's practice was assessed and deemed to have passed every requirement. The interim practice restriction was subsequently removed. Two year warning to remain on the Registrant's file with respect to Standards 1.1 and 1.6 of the Code. |
