Joining a register

You can register online at any time.

To register you will need to evidence the following:


Successful completion of qualification via an approved course

This is evidenced in the following ways:

  • An original qualification certificate(s)
  • or
  • official transcript with module breakdown.

For RSLI, RSLI (Intralingual) and RSLT you must also send evidence of:

  • Level 6 or equivalent BSL qualification
  • Level 6 or equivalent interpreting qualification.

That you are a ‘fit and proper person’ and safe to work with vulnerable adults and children.

This is evidenced in the following way:

You must complete a Fit and Proper Person Declaration which will require you to confirm the following:

  • That you have a standard disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service that is less than three years old OR confirmation that you are subscribed to the DBS update service;
  • Information regarding your health and any disabilities that will require specific adjustment to support you in safely carrying out your professional duties and any steps you will take to manage these.
  • Information about any complaints that have been upheld in relation to your professional conduct, in any of the registers, and any related sanctions That you have valid professional indemnity insurance
  • That you agree to our Privacy Policy

Once we have received your evidence, your application will be considered by our Registration Manager, and if necessary our Independent Registrar.

We will contact you if we need further evidence, or we have any questions about the information in your application.

If we are satisfied that your application meets the requirements to join the specified register, we will contact you to confirm successful application.

You will then be asked to pay a fee and we will send you your NRCPD ID Badge.

Successful completion of the application means that your name will be added to the registers and your details will be listed under the ‘Check the Register’ (link) and ‘FIND A PROFESSIONAL’ functions within our website.

You will also be able to advertise yourself as regulated by NRCPD under the category or categories you have applied for.
