Registration

We protect the public by regulating communication and language professionals who work with deaf and deafblind people. We hold Registers of interpreters for deafblind people, lipspeakers, notetakers, sign language interpreters, sign language translators and speech to text reporters.

Regulation protects the public by raising the standards of the regulated professions. So by being registered, a communication and language professional shows they are serious about protecting people and providing a high quality service.

People and organisations who need the services of communication and language professionals can be sure a Registrant

• is properly trained by successfully completing an approved course;
• has agreed to abide by our Code of Conduct;
• is subject to a complaints process;
• continues their professional development;
• has a standard disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service; and
• has valid professional indemnity insurance.
